it seems to me that running through a step up and then a phono pre is a lot of wire and junctions. It makes me wonder if there is degradation of the signal that might be offset by a shorter and less cluttered path to a good MM. So I'm curious as to what a good MM might do. If only I had more $$$ and time to experiment.
