Below, there is a great thread concerning stylus life. We all would love to hear from some retailers or manufacturers concerning their facts or opinions about diamond stylus life.
While most user manuals, suggest at least 1000 hours before replacement, many of us know that number is way low. I have more than a few cartridges that work very well after 2000 or more hours.
One of my cartridges, an Ortofon SPE with a "Long Life Stylus" has been used, very hard, for the last 17 years, with no noticeable wear !
One of the claims, on the thread below, is that dirty records will not reduce the useable life of a diamond stylus. I cannot believe that dirty records or stylii do not affect wear.
