I just can't understand why this band never got any airplay here.
Peace & love were the bywords of the day. The Dolls were shocking. Alice Cooper was shocking, but people were more willing to accept the dark side than a bunch of guys dressed up as girls. That went way over the line in the 70's. Plus their music is/was not main stream melodically. From my remembrance, it is very simplistic. Its something you either like or vehemently dislike as is most of the bands listed so far. I've been into Mott the Hoople since the 70's, but most were not. There are days now that I just don't want to listen to it because it is too far out of the mainstream melodic makeup. Then other days I love it. It depends on the mood. Its just the kind of music that evokes passion. Some passionately love it. Some hate it with a passion. Same with all these bands listed. there is a reason this music didn't make it to the forefront. It's not pleasing to the majority of tastes. Doesn't make it right or wrong. Just makes it different.
I've always liked different. I'm just now learning to like more of the mainstream But your original point is well taken. There's lots of good music out there that we have overlooked through the years. It's really neat to discover it and ask why we missed it. Different place, different time and we are different people than we were. We are now more refined............yeah, that's what we'll call it...refined.
Life has lots of trials and lots of music to help us through them.
