My brother in law had my first ROK phrenolic piece off in a matter of a few seconds.Just two screw drivers and its off.
There is no need to put the motor into an oven. If you have any concerns just ship it to me and I will remove the piece and return it.
The linen is spiral formed from the center out. The phrenolic is machineable and it keeps it tolerances even over 30-40 years. This is amazing stuff.
I did some research and phrenolic is claimed to be a superior interface for high resonance applications. Since it is fitting between an idler wheel and the motor shaft I think this is a perfect choice of material.
While you could machine a piece from brass I think it would be best to stick with the phrenolic.
