Anyone here ever rewired an AR XA tonearm?

I have a great AR-XA table that has lost a channel. All wires are connected but I've traced the break to somewhere inside the tone arm. Any idea how to get the headshell-end connector off the tonearm? I lose continuity just behind the headshell.
Thanks for any suggestions based on experience.
I may as well put in all new wires, but gotta get it apart first!
