the surface is dull or gray and the number of scratches are almost too numerous to count. Usually that is a give away for heavy wear. This LP didn't appear that way, yet the higher frequencies were distorted almost with a buzzing sound and the lower ranges were muffled and I played other discs afterwards just to make sure nothing had changed with the TT/cartridge and it was clearly the LP. Too bad since I think Lester Young was incredible. Norm
