I just experimented with a 4.7K loading resistor on the secondary, giving 52 ohms cart load (I'm using the 9:1 ratio wiring scheme) and I thought it sounded pretty darn good. Perhaps still just a tad bright even, and I'm running my cart just a whisker tail down. I'm going to try a 3.3k resostor next...giving a loading of 38 ohms.I am honestly surprised the cart is going this low. Bass still seems to be pretty tight. I am going to ultimately use a double pull 6 position rotary selector knob for added versatility. I was thinking of having 38, 52, 69, 100, 150, and 200 ohms as my choices.
Did YOU try loading below the 200 ohm mark? What did you hear?
