Ken,There is a chance that the castings are actually produced that way so there is expremely solid contact at the corners and loose in the center area.
Then a radio station could plop it into a fab cut hole with cork or rubber and tighten the thing down solid.
The gasket would work as a cld and render the platten basically vibration free. I bet it was purposely cast for such a mount.
I agree that Kim G's custom plinth is spectacular. His attention to all the small details is very apparent. Superb is the way I like to describe these types of efforts!
