Digital scales are based on strain gauge force transducers. As I understand it the nature of the beast is that noise is a greater problem than linearity.The smallest division that will give a stable display depends on noise level, this sets the precision of the scale. The linearity of the transducer sets the accuracy and this is bound to be at least as good as the precision.
At the winery we get our scales calibrated each year (because grower payments are calculated on our weighbridge dockets) and they are always spot on.
