Epic was founded in 1953 and ended operations in 1977. All along Epic had a business relationship with Columbia USA. Epic was never a Columbia re-issue, but like the Szell box, Columbia had "arrangements" with Epic records. Odyssey was Columbia's re-issue label. Columbia USA did re-release some of EPIC box sets.....I also have the 5 Beethoven PCs with Szell and leon Fleisher on 1970s Columbia vinyl, although I've seen single LPs of these recordings on EPIC!!Tom B.
