Oh how I wish Denon and Technics

made modern versions of their Golden Age big audiophile DD turntables. I have a Denon DP-72L and I LOVE it. The only problem with auto lift is you tend to get stuck with the arm they include...for better or worse. This is the weakness with the DP-72L.

Someone needs to manufacture a high end standalone autolift arm. All it needs to do is detect that it is at the end of its range of motion and lift. Hell if a garden sprinkler can do it, why not a tonearm? A small lift motor located in the base of the arm to operate the cue would do it. If it also controled the mains power to the drive unit then it would turn any manual drive unit into an auto lift table. I am really suprised nobody has tried to market such an item. Hell standalone drive units could be made with a jack for optional autolift control. How I would LOVE a modern DP-80 or SP-10mkII with such an option.
