Question about a V15 III on a Technics DD table

I have an SL D2 and a variety of carts. I like the sound of my V15 III, but I am concerned about it's suitability for the arm. I have all the original literature for the Shure, saying that it is for a low to medium mass arm. I guess mine is medium. But I have to move the counterweight quite far out on the arm to balance the cartridge, due to its weight. It sounds fine, but is this a stress on the cantilever? If I add weight to the exisiting counterweight (I have tried a washer), the counterweight can be set closer to the pivot, but I'm not sure how to dial in the appropriate VTF (I'm getting a gauge) or what the VTF should be. Perhaps I should just leave it as is and enjoy it. Thoughts?
