I gave up a Linn for Dual's flagship 701....

...side by side testing with identical cartridges showed it equal in mid-range, better in bass, and losing by a small margin to the Linn's Syrinx PU-2 arm. This was with an Accuphase AC-2 low output moving coil. The sonic tradeoff was acceptable to me, and the convenience factor is terric...auto setdown if you want it (I have use it...leave the cueing lever up and let the machine position the arm..then manually lower it with the cue lever. At end, it's up and return by itself.

I've also got a 601 with essentially the same mechanism and arm and belt drive. Platter not quite as heavy, but no audible wow or flutter.

Either of these if in good shape will make a surpisingly sound-effectiv and convenient player for you. Probably some work finding one, and probably also needing some touch up repairs by servicemen who are becoming scarce, but otherwise a good option.
