and coincidently I just lubricated the spindle with a couple drops of Prolong. The circular magnet is on the platter underside; however on mine the disc surrounding the shaft is black plastic, not white. If this shaft area of the platter is what you lubricated it wasn't necessary. You don't want the contact area between the spindle and the platter to slip; it should be clean and dry, but not so locktight you can't remove the platter to lubricate the spindle in the future.In all the years I've owned this turntable this is the only maintenance I've had to do. Unfortunately the plastic hinges cracked and I was unable to repair them so it's now a loose cover. But let me tell you this turntable gives up very little in musicality to the Heybrook and the Music Hall which I also own, and it's got them beat when in comes to headshell/cartridge interchangeability and its automatic functions.
