RobI am using an old L70 that I have had for 40 years.
I have used a thinned Mobil 1 10W30 thinned with air tool oil to about 5W30 consistency. The rundown of the platter averages about 29-30 revolutions over a period of more than 1 minute. It requires re-lubing about every 2 years. - and it takes a few weeks before the bearing settles back in to the previous performance level.Several of the spindle bearing re-build kits boast even longer rundown times. Requires polishing of the bearing surface and installation of new ball, thrust plate and a larger/deeper oil retainer. I haven't felt this was necessary.
Regards
