I can vouch that the LP 12 did sound considerably better than the TD 125 Mk II and TD 160 in the past (when I last compared them). I have a 165 in the house and an old LP 12. I can't make a head to head statement, since the Thorens has it's arm and different cart. But, I am a satisfied nearly 30 year old Linn LP 12 owner; I am just now getting around to upgrading the springs, cover springs, grommets, etc. I use the table almost 5x or more a week for 20 plus of those years.
