I just like that old funky stuff. I have a line on a Garrard 4HF turntable (grease bearing, same as early 301) with a big Garrard tonearm. It has the idler drive like my 301 (underneath it is similar). Maybe some of you can picture it. It's actually a very precise tonearm with ballbearings on both axes-- it's just HEAVY. I can set the VTF down below 2 grams but wouldn't I need a very low compliance cartridge? I have access to a lot of NOS cartridges through a local dealer.Obviously, if I'm considering such a TT, I am budget-minded ;D
Somehow, the combination of old and new interests me, aesthetically. Thanks for any input,
Pete
