I just scored 4 unplayed LPs from a from a charity-shop, all seemingly mid 70's pressings.FYI -
Severino Grazzelloni & I Musici - Vivaldi flute concs. - Philips 1974Bernstein / Isaac Stern / NY Philharmonic - Beethoven violin conc. - CBS 1975
Von Karajan / Berlin Philharmonic - Beethoven 3rd and 6th symphonys - DG 1962
The matrix numbers are quite revealing, the first 2 are early stampers (A1,B2 etc.), but the Karajans had obviously been in use for many years after 1962 and have numbers as high as A9.
The consensus seems to be that quite a lot of detail is 'lost' when stampers this late are used. Is this the case, and if so, how much?
