SME 3009 change from non detachable to detachable headshell

I have a SME 3009R/S2 improved tonearm with non-detachable headshell, and recently my friend has offered me his SME part for a locking collar head with allow detachable headshell to be fixed at the very front end of the arm. All I have to do is to release the bottom screw and pull out the non-detachabel headshell and solder the collar pins to the 4 wires.
The question, has anyone tried this swap to change an existing non detachable to detachable arm. After the change, I would think that the effective length of the arm would change (to 3009.5???).
Does it works and how to calculate the new effective length and offset?
Thanks guys.
