Recently picked up this copy of "Freedom Sound" by The Jazz Crusaders. The cover is a bit fragile, but the vinyl was essentially unplayed. The players include Wayne Henderson on trombone, Joe Sample, piano, Wilton Felder, tenor, "Sticks" Hooper on drums and Jimmy Bond, bass. The music is sweet, in-the-pocket bop, with the merest hint of "the new thing" (at least, as it was in 1961).
Here's my question: Does anyone know if colored vinyl (in this case, yellow) was a regular thing with Pacific Jazz? I've got a few original issue Pacific Jazz copies, but this is the first time I've seen a colored vinyl one, even though nothing on the label or cover says "promo" or "limited edition" or anything.
Any thoughts? Otherwise, enjoy!
