Scott,I think it's called plumber's duct clay (or sumesuch). It can be found in most hardware stores. Comes in a 1 lb. bar about 7" long, 2" wide, and 1" thick. Adds nice weight and stability to the project box.
Also, later this evening, I'll e-mail you or post a diagram (not a schematic) on how to wire the toggle switch you asked about if others haven't responded by then.
