while they are not the last word in sound, i actually find many of the scorpios ($9 reissues) to be reasonably good, and i have compared them to originals and great japanese reissues.

for access to the music, i think $9 can't be beat. a few have sounded "off" on the first play but fine on the 2nd play.

i own about 20 of them, as i wanted to do a bunch of testing against 1st and 2nd pressings + other reissues. in my view, unless one were sitting there comparing them back-to-back (instead of focusing on the *great* music), one wouldn't really miss that much. many of them are 5-star recordings... so it is very easy to focus on the music.
