The Nakamichi Dragon is a great deck when...

it's up to spec and is running the the way it should. I used to have one, for many years I wanted one and finally got one in near mint condition. The NAAC started acting up after a few years, I couldn't get the recordings to sound good all the way through, sent it to Nak in L.A. and after $450.00 later it was back to normal until the NAAC started in again. I purchased a Luxman K-03 (rare) and it was just as good or better than the Nak Dragon I had so I sold the Dragon. The Luxman made excellent tapes that could be played on any deck and would sound great on all decks I played it in, couldn't say that for the Dragon. One other Nak I had was the RX-505 and was very close to the Dragon in sound/recordings, I wish I never got rid of it. One thing you need to keep everything very clean in the Dragon's transport and up to spec or you will have problems. One bad thing is that Nak is out of business and the only place that repairs the Drgaon probably better than Nak itself is ESLabs.com. I wish you well on your new deck and I hope it brings you years of enjoyment.
