just the record weight. the idea that the weight is damping and the outer dots are supporting without having to worry about leveling re center thickness. This really helps with the 'bowl'jobs I have a few of. 'course, though, when you flip the bowl it doesn't help at all ... just secures the bowl, so maybe it does help but I hate those bowls.~Slainte, Pardner
