Home Vinyl Asylum

Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

Here's how I'd rate mine....

Miles Davis Kind Of Blue, and Sketches of Spain--better than the original 6-eye Columbias (which are pretty good).
Cannonball Adderley Something Else--I like the way this sounds, though some guys on this forum say that it's not as good as the original Blue Note. OTOH, it probably costs a lot less than the original BN. I don't have an original to compare the Classics with, so I'll take their word for it.
Fritz Reiner/CSO--Pines Of Rome, Fountains Of Rome--ok, but not as good as other classical stuff I have on London/Decca. A lot more expensive, too. This is the only classical Classic I have, though.
Led Zep IV, Physical Graffiti--I expected these to knock my socks off and they didn't. I think the original master tapes have lost something over the years. If you can get a clean Pecko Duck IV, you'll be just as happy and they ain't rare. You won't pay $30 for one. Jerry's Records had one for $5 last time I was in.
As far as QC issues, I haven't had any. They're flat, centered, and play quietly.
