I personally wouldn't worry about it as long as you can get the correct overhang. Mine was slightly out of position when I bought my current turntable, sounded fine. I made myself another armboard from thicker aluminium, because the chap who sold it to me said it would improve the sound. Couldn't notice any difference.
The small amount that your cartridge would be out of position, which would be at the start of the record, would be unnoticable & wouldn't cause any damage to your records or stylus.
Might be worth getting a protractor of sorts sometime.
