As you see from the link to the AN Io Ltd, extra tonearm wires are needed for the DC current supply in a field-coil cartridge.As it is necessarily a moving-signal-coil design, output will if anything be lower than conventional cartidges, not higher. In any case a phono preamp is still needed for RIAA equalization, since magnetic cartridges always measure stylus velocity (rate of change of deflection) not the deflection itself. Only the lo-fi piezoelectric ceramic cartridges of yore measured the deflection itself, and thus (sort of) did not need equalization. that may have been true of the strain gauge too, I'm not sure. The ceramics also had high output, essentially line-level.
