How I aligned this cartridge. $400 retip time?

Thanks for all the help all.

I spent quite a bit of time aligning the cartridge using the Rega guide. (Picture included) This really worked well, and although the cartridge slightly pulls to one side, it aligns perfectly parrallel to the guide lines. I fine tuned this to a very precise position on the guide.

I also adjusted the Rega arm to the recommended setting matching the cartridge. ( tried 1.8 - 2.2, ended with 2.0) The tonearm has a wheel that dials in the weight after you have balanced the arm 1MM off an album. I have plenty of experience with both the anti skating and weight settings of this arm.

When setting the cartridge down on the guide, it pulls slightly in one direction. The picture makes it look to be at an angle, but the lines are perfect on my guide. I tried adjusting the anti-skate to extremes, (All the way in and out) but the cartridge still pulls. I'm also not sure that cranking the anti skate in the wrong direction to straighten a stylus is the best approach. For now I'm simply working the slight pull to match my guide. In other words, the needle is hitting my albums in a perfect line, but the body is twisted away (slightly) to compensate.

I bought this cartridge used (took a gamble) with supposedly 20 hours of use. I paid $500 and the cost to retip is $400. So I actually had a back up plan in case something went wrong. It will wind up costing me an extra $100 to get this fixed.(If purchased new $800, $500+$400 retip = $900) Fighting the dealer sounds like a waist of time, but I'll give it a try. You win some and lose some dealing on audiogon, but so far I am WAY ahead of the game.

Here is a picture of the guide I used. As I say, the stylus sits very nicely on the lines of the rega guide. I simply move the body slightly to match all lines.
