Wow, really? No fan of Jim Hall, or Kenny Burrell, or Barry Galbraith, or Bill Frisell, or Johnny Smith? Bucky Pizzarelli? Eddie McFadden? Pat Martino? John McLaughlin?
Herbie Hancock is way great on "Feelin' the Spirit", and that's a classic BN rhythm section--Billy Higgins and Billy Higgins are on a ton of great records. But what I really like about Grant Green is how he seems to know the melody so completely. He plays those single note solos as if he knows what a saxophonist would do with the tune, or a vocalist. To me, he really sings.
I do respect divergent opinions, however, and am happy to hear of any records you guys are less than fond of. If you guys want to get rid of any, let me know. I'm all ears.Best,
Milo
