In Reply to: Not as good as the PS-2??? Really? My JD-9, even posted by HenryH on December 3, 2006 at 06:21:06:
The two units were more similar than not, but the PS-2 had more extended highs and more extended lows, but not quite as liquid a midrange as the Jolida. I still prefered the Jolida's high-end, although it didn't seem to reach as high. Probably the tube thing. The PS-2 easily bettered the JD-9 in the lows and, overall, sounded more transparent and linear in it's response and is quieter. That said, I wanted to try the JD-9 and figured if I liked it, the PS-2 could be sold and I could pay for the JD-9 and have some leftover change to reinvest in other things. There were other things I liked about the JD-9 at least as well or better than the PS-2: soundstage, depth, presence, overall musicality, and fun-factor. I think the PS-2 is a great stage and I would guess it is an improvement over the PS-1 - it'll be interesting to see the upcoming review from Positive Feedback (I think). The final outcome was that the JD-9 sits on my rack and the PS-2 has a nice new home.
