Ugh! That is a cruel one, as if!! Records are not moulded like other plastic items as far higher precision than your rubber duck in the bath & therefore need no release agent. If they did, this agent would clog up the pressing plates & the grooves in no time.
Wetting anything is the best way to clean it, be it record machine fluids or soap & water as it WASHES the dirt away! I just got 8 records in the post today, look OK, but sound too noisy. When I've carefully washed 'em they'll sound fine again! I bet this scaremongerer never showers & cleans himself with scrunched up newspaper instead of showering!! :o)
