Try Last cleaner

I used to use Last cleaner, before I went to a Nitty Gritty RCM, and it used to evaporate VERY quickly.
In fact, I thought that using the Last power cleaner, followed up with the Last record preservative, got my records almost as clean as the NG RCM, using RRL fluid. And that was using it 20 years ago, and the records still sound great, so I have no concerns about using either the cleaner or the preservative. (Some people do have concerns however, especially with the stylus cleaner/preservative, which I no longer use.)

Now that I have answered your question, I too must get on the band wagon about two things:

One, the Orbitrac stinks. I got one for Christmas (I stupidly asked for one, based on Mikey Fremer's recomendation - God, I should have known better than to EVER have taken his advice - NEVER AGAIN!!!). Anyway, as I stated, I use a Nitty Gritty RCM, the model 1.0, which is a very good vacuum for drying records. (And they're cheap! - especially when I got it used for $100.) With the NG 1.0 one must clean the records by hand first. I was using Disk Doctor brushes, with RRL fluid. (And it worked great). However, I (again, stupidly) read from Mikey that he uses the Orbitrac as a precleaner. I tried it, and while it worked, it did not work as well as the Disk Doctor brushes and the RRL fluid. (Not by a long shot!) I would recommend giving up on the Orbitrac, and going with a RCM. If you can't afford a RCM, start saving for one.

Two, if you really don't want to go with a RCM due to expense, noise, whatever, then I highly recommend going to the Last system of cleaning. It works better, and is easier. I also recommend using the Last brushes and the power cleaner, along with the Last record preservative. (FYI, the Last general cleaner sucked, IMHO.) However, all of this is based upon 20 year old knowledge of Last products, and hopefully, they have not changed their formulas.

Good Luck!

PS The reason why everyone jumped on you about using the Orbitrac is that most of us (please, or please, let it be most of us, and not just stupid ole me!), tried it and found it to be an inferior method of cleaning. And, we are here to try to help others NOT make the same stupid mistakes that we did.
