You'll want to make sure the cartridge body is very close to parallel to the record surface. The 103 has a relatively short body (vertical dimension) which could yield an odd VTA with the (IIRC) unadjustable 250.Some folks claim that VTA is not important with a 103 but my own experience indicates otherwise.
VTA adjustment should start by going perfectly parallel and then (if possible) dialed in with minor adjustments one way of the other (by ear).
