I don't the platter on my Moth is a Rega product, if that makes any difference. I didn't like the way the Moth sounded, or the constant problems with the set-up, so it's been for sale for about a month.
The "effortless turntable" that sounds good exists. There were loads of them back in the day.
They were so well-built, so easy to set up correctly, that they still exist in the tens of thousands.
Some advice, if you don't mind me giving it--don't give up on vinyl because of your experience with the P2. Instead, simplify. Resist the urge to tweak and upgrade. Avoid fancy expensive counterweights, $150 platter mats, $200 wiring kits, etc. Fix any mechanical issues with your deck and find a cartridge that's a good match for the RB250 arm.
Then, just enjoy music. Don't start thinking, "what if this could sound better" because it can always sound better. Play around with your listening space, move the speakers around until you find a sweet spot, damp any reflective surfaces (cheap and easy to do--you might already have what you need just laying around) because bad room acoustics will make a $100,000 system sound bad.
And the bucks you save avoiding $500 external power supplies and $400 sub-platter/platter upgrades can be spent on LPs.
