FWIW: I phoned a chrome plating company a little while back and when I explained that I had a Thorens 125MKII cast iron (I think) platter they said chrome plating would not work due to the nature of the material. The layer would accentuate uneven surfaces and not look right. Also they said they would have to possibly drill holes in the platter for the plating machine to grip it. When I apply polish it does stay shiny for quite some time. I think I'll just polish it once every 2 months. Applying wax seems a good plan - I will try that at my next polish.Jw
