I had a Counterpoint SA-1000 I was using with a Denon SUT. Then I got the AQVOX phono. Difference into the Counterpoint's linestage was good, but not earth-shattering. Then I tried removing the Counterpoint completely and running the AQVOX direct into my Decware monoblocks (w/volume controls). That was it--much greater detail, wider & deeper soundstage, more distinct placement of instruments, better freq. extremes, better dynamics. Clearly the Counterpoint had been holding me back, but it did sound good with the SUT. Now that midrange magic has been spread thru the whole spectrum.
