I wouldn't say liars as many major labels still are of the mindset that Digital is superior to Analog so there is no reason to not use the Digital remasters to make LPs. Remember all those dreadful "Digitally remastered LPs" of the 1980's? Well some actually believe they were an improvement. And even if the remastering engineer thinks the analog might sound better time restraints and budgets often get in the way. I have very few LPs made after 1980 from the commercial labels for this very reason. With commercial LPs it is best to try to find the original issues, look for the absence of UPC codes on the back. And read the fine print on the back. Also the copyright dates.

I bought a Decca Viva! LP, the recordings were made in 1973 and 1978 meaning they were Analog, as Decca first the Digital LP was not until late 1979. But the copyright date is 1983, and upon listening the image is flat and the violins sound like saws and the deep bass was missing, nothing like Decca at all. Even thought it does not say so I 100% believe it is "Digitally Remastered". It went back to the thrift store.

I have found that most Audiophile labels except "Simply Vinyl" go back to the original analog master. Simply Vinyl sometimes is from the original analog masters when they can get them; some have been from Digital copies and analog copies. Before buying a Simply Vinyl title do a search here to find out if it sounds good and is an analog master?

Most of the information on digitally remastered analog LPs has come from the Vinyl Asylum and trial and error.

I like your idea of a warning "Caution this is an digital contaminated source" but I don't think it will ever happen.

mtodde's post says that Steve Hoffman opined that the vast majority of OJC's were analog.
