Your Connie wasn't loved, that's the problem. Set it up well, and it'll sing like nobody's business (I have 3 of 'em, so its no fluke). Hows about this: its more musical than I ever remember my Linn Axis or Roksan Xerxes, is that audiophile enough? (Of course, those bigger tables will slaughter the Connie in terms of detail, soundstage, bass depth and all that unimportant stuff).

No, try again! As I said to the previous poster, the Thorens 150 and Connoisseur BD-2 I compared the Rega with were tested using the -very same- setup (top spike supported shelf of welded target stand, same amp/phono stage, etc. The Rega is boring to listen to, the other two are not, and they have much crappier cartridges that are many years old. The Rega has a new $400 cart.).

Now if someone can tell me how to check the arm bearings for play or the main platter bearing and maybe adjust them, then we can rule out misuse, and conclude that the Rega is simply a boring, unmusical record deck.
