I love the Garrad of the day pics and woodwork on a table sure looks nice. My current table is plane euro bland and I wouldn't go for a table that sounds worse but looks better. I gotta say taht a beutifull table is a nice thing to have. Woods sides are nice on preamps and amps. nice finishes on speakers makes look niiiice.

If a table can look like nice and sound good too that is ideal.

Now hardly any of the newer tables look good to me, especially the Clearaudio ... too cold.

Of the newer tables the Nottingham have the most warmth of all the plasticky looking ones. then anything with wood trim is up there. The the old tables, even Pioneer look real good with the wood plinths.

Seems like you can always improve how a table performs so you might as well start with good looks thing and improve ... if all things were equal.
