The Denon DL-102 cartridge is rated at [roughly] 240 ohms. My phono preamp provides max MC load of 400 ohms. Ideally [?] load impedance should be at least 5-times greater than cartridge output impedance—meaning the 102 should be loaded to at least 1000 ohms [as Denon recommends] 1] What are the sonic consequences of my "under loading" and 2] how can it be corrected [resistor, etc.]? Thanks in advance. As a note, I can’t use the phono preamp MM input as it’s being used by another arm [with MM cartridge].

- There is no "ideal". - Garth 00:58:50 09/08/06 (5)
- "severe overload" - rontokyo 01:53:02 09/08/06 (1)
- The voltage output will be too high for the amount of gain and cause distortion. (nt) - Garth 02:01:41 09/08/06 (0)

- I see from the specs 400 ohm is the highest for the MC input which means - Garth 02:13:00 09/08/06 (1)
