PS Audio PS300 power regenerator - vinyl asylum opinions?

Any of you guys have a PS Audio PS300 (or similar) power regenerator? I read about it on other forums, but I trust my vinyl friends' ears and opinions a bit more.

I have been very skeptical about things like expensive power cords and power conditioners for a number of technical reasons, but on some listening sessions my system sounds awesome, other times it sounds much worse - this is with the same familiar LPs, speaker position, listening position, volume, etc. Sometimes the quality of the reproduction changes during a listening session. I have noticed that the AC voltage can vary dramatically: right now it's 120V, last night it was less than 110V.

There may be other factors like my own physical well-being, air huumidity, etc., that might account for the way the system sounds, but none of those change as rapidly or as frequently as AC voltage swings (and presumably AC noise which I have no way of measuring).

The official and user reviews for the PS power regenerators (they convert AC to DC then back to a "perfect" AC) are amazingly good, and the fact that the company gives a 30-day trial period (on a $1K+ product) makes me think that there is something to this AC power quality thing. From a technical standpoint I must say that I find the power regeneration story easier to swallow than the change-the-power-cord story.

Whaddyall think?

Alberto
