A really top notch, spot on alignment takes me two evenings on my personal rig.

The first step is with the "visual tools" such as the Turntable basics and DB systems protractors, then with the Test records and either my Oscilloscope or my sound card, comparing wave forms and adjusting azimuth.

Then on to music and finer adjustment of the anti-skate and VTA.

The next evening I will double check my adjustments and usually only have to perform minor tweaks.

It takes a fine touch to get thing "perfect".
