some of the mods I made to mine brought it from excellent to exceptional. See picture gallery. Sandbox, Modified suspension, Cone feet, etc.As for surface noise - the degree of isolation you achieve with your TT plays a major role in how well you can control surface noise. Surface noise is not "played" in the normal sense but is mechanically caused. Just as a car will take the glitches in the road better with good shocks - so too will a TT negotiate the glitches in LPs much better when properly set up & isolated.
FWIW - the Sandbox had (has) the single biggest impact on controlling surface noise in my system.

I do hope that 1.75g tracking force is with the brush down. I run mine up - having resisted advice to do so for a long tims. It really does sound better that way. VTF is 1.2g
