I love the gleam of a perfectly clean record, and the sound of it sliding out of a nice poly-lined paper sleeve.

I love the complete randomness of what you find in the shelves of old record stores. Yesterday it was an original Cultural Revolution LP of one of Jiang Qing's revolutionary operas complete with quotations from Chairman Mao on the sleeve ($3) and two perfectly mint DG discs, Beethoven's 5th and 7th, both Grand Prix du Disque winning recordings of Karajan and the Berliner Philharmonic ($2 each, I mean TWO AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS ie 80pence UK). These last are the most silent vinyl I ever heard. I thought I'd left the volume at 0 after cleaning the stylus, got up to turn it up and the orchestra met me half way across the room...
