Re: Thorens Td125 - belt falls off at night mystery

After you spin your last record for the night, put the platter on upside down to watch what happens with the belt when you turn on the TT the next morning.

I usually give my Thorens (td125 and td145) a gentle push start just before turning it on. The belt will never come off if you do that, and it also saves wear and tear on the belt.

A twist in the belt will also help, just make sure you twist the right way. Twist the belt one half turn at the bobbin. Looking from the front of the TT, there are two ways to put a half twist in the belt. On my TD145, twisting the belt up and out (counterclockwise twist) makes the belt go down at start up. Twisting the belt up and in (clockwise twist) makes the belt go up.
