Found a few Cheskys recently. I popped on the Earl Wild Rachy PC #2. At first i felt cheated because half the vinyl is blank on both sides. But my oh my - once the music started I was impressed. It sounded like a modern orchestra and piano as opposed to the 60's recordings.Last night I was A/B ing a V. Cliburn Shaded Dog vs. the SACD version of the same recording. They sounded very similar which is to say, not too good. It just sounded - old. No, not all Dogs sound like this to me, but this Chesky sounded so much more lifelike, closer to a real concert. At least once I got oriented. It took a couple minutes to grasp the perspective. At first I thought I was onstage at the podium, but no, that was too close. Not on the floor either. That was too low. More like a balcony but that was to distant. I finally realized I was hanging in the air just in the 5th row or so.
I googled this LP but couldn't find anything much about it, like when where and how it was recorded.
Does anybody know?
