Re: if you are refering to the Cirkus upgrade...

At the risk of getting into a fight here, I would still suggest you get the Cirkus. The only thing it does that people object to is remove/reduce a midbass bump which has given the LP12 a certain "sound" that people have either loved or hated. I have gone through this with LP12's on many occasions; neither sounds bad, but the Cirkus has better resolution.

Does that mean it sounds more like a CD (and I am a committed digiphobe) than it used to, I guess you could make that argument, but by no means does it make it more sterile. To me it sounds like going from a fat sounding vacuum tube to a more neutral one, and there are some people who would prefer the former over the later. A Cirkus'd LP12 has better dynamics and higher resolution at all ends of the spectrum. I have not felt that PRAT suffered, but rather improved. Further more it makes the background quieter with record noise (pops and clicks) somewhat less intrusive.

It also have one other great benefit, the kit provides the parts that basically gives you a new table when it's installed. It is an easy retrofit; installation is straight forward and with a bit of care, works right the first time. Get a Linn setup manual, which seems to be available on the net in various places, and follow the steps to set up the turntable outlined in it. You will get a lot of satisfaction out of that as well as develop an intimate understanding and appreciation of how your LP12 works. Just watch to make sure the long suspension bolts (that the springs mount on) are straight and vertical using a torpedo level.

The bottom line is, does the Cirkus LP12 sound more musical? I think so or I would have taken mine out and not installed them in customer and friends LP12's over the years.
