rational is a sliding scale...

i can surely back up the palpability claims that come from idler fans.. just got one myself, and despite the noise of some ancient motors made for mono records, they got some serious 'PRAT' goin on.. made my sota sapphire sound way slow-- quiet.. but bloated and mushy. idler: best timing i've heard outside of mega dollar tables like verdiers, clearaudios, and SAP direct drives. 'course.. a 40# plinth, a modded rb250, a hard maple armboard, and a lotta tweaking went in to get there.. but that's a turntable for ya..

audio nirvana comes in strange places for some- and if the fact that turntables are mechanical devices and you CAN do things to improve the sound-- then getting some of these very well designed tables (despite their age) to sound GREAT aught'nt be that much of a stretch! but it's all in the ear of the beholder...
