Garth,I can understand your concern about overdriving the Seduction with 9mv. I had similar concerns when I was trying to figure out how to use a 1.0mv output ZYX mono cartridge in my system with my Herron VTPH-1MC (66 dB gain) and JLTI (60 dB gain) phono stages. I contacted both companies and they said 25-30mv input was not a problem for their phono stages.
The 10-11mv output from the phono stages to the preamp was not a problem either. Just keep the preamp volume control turned down real low. I tried it, and it worked with no problems.
I suspect if Bottlehead is contacted they will say that the Seduction can handle at least 10mv. No harm in asking and it would eliminate the hassle of buying a limited use 1:5 SUT.
I ended up getting a 1:4 SUT so that I could use my ZYX mono with my 1958 HH Scott 130 (with pre-RIAA equalization). Not many good options for a 1:4 SUT unless you are a DIYer.
