HiI can't comment on the 1042, but I have a 1022 (baby brother to the 1042). My main cart is a DL-103, so I have plenty of experience comparing them both.
My take is that the 103 is the superior cart, although it takes a lot of effort to set up and tweak. The Goldring is in comparison somewhat grey and sterile. I liked it at first, but it's missing that crucial X factor IMHO. The 103 has life and colour (that doesn't mean it's coloured).
